
Grants
We deeply care about our community and recognize our responsibility to the city that supports us. Therefore, the Kansas City Irish Fest Grant Fund was created to foster awareness and appreciation of Kansas City’s rich Irish heritage and to enhance and promote Irish music, dance, literature, theater, visual arts, sports and cuisine.
2011 Grant Process Parameters
- Up to $1,500 grants for individuals
- Up to $3,500 for qualified 501(c)3 agencies
- The grant process opens in August and closes on September 30, 2011
- Recipients notified by the end of the current calendar year
- Grants must be used during the 2012 calendar year
- Past Recipients will file a grant update form.
All funds awarded will be for projects, programs and or events taking place in the calendar year 2012.
The Kansas City Irish Fest is committed to
- Presenting family-friendly entertainment, activities and products
- Providing opportunities for Irish organizations to promote positive & peaceful causes
- Perpetuating the study and appreciation of Irish history and genealogy
- developing and cultivating opportunities for leadership and volunteerism
- Deepening a sense of community among Irish Americans and all ethnic groups that contribute to the unique flavor and vitality of the Midwest

- Items of a political nature
- Operating expenses
- Salaries
- Rent
- Payment for professional services
Through cash grants of up to $1500 for individuals and up to $3500 for qualified 501(c)3 agencies in the community that supports us, Irish Fest hopes to help keep alive the proud Irish heritage that unites and defines us.
Please note the grant application process will close September 30th, 2011 and recipients will be notified by the end of the calendar year.
2010 Individual Grant Recipients
- Matt Scanlon - Cooking course at Belle Isle School of Cookery. He’ll bring what he learns to a workshop at Irish Fest
- Hilliard Gallery -The gallery will feature an Irish or Irish American artist at a First Friday Art Walk
- Mark Franzke - Mark will build a custom mandolin, which will later be auctioned for charity. Follow the mandolin’s progress at http://www.franzkemandolins.blogspot.com
- Browne’s Irish Street Faire - Support to help cover expenses of the charity event
2010 501 C3 Grant Recipients
- Kansas City Gaelic Athletic Club - Support for recruitment and equipment
- AOH - Children for Peace in Ireland- Support for Children for Peace in Ireland
- Irish Museum & Cultural Center - Support for programming. Master Irish Musician Eilot Graso Concert & workshop for pipes, tin whistle and fiddle
- Theatre of the Imagination/Gorilla Theatre - Support for an Irish children’s play
- Kansas City Feis - Support for the annual Irish step dance competition hosted by the O’Riada Academy of Irish Dance
- AOH - Padraig Pearse Division - Support for guest speaker
- Harp & Shamrock - Support for fundraiser to help disadvantaged youth
- Missouri FolkLife Society - Support for youth emphasis project, exposure to Irish traditional music
